Risk vs. Reward?

Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly. ~Robert F. Kennedy

I used to work in finance, helping people decide where to put their savings. Even though we had many different ways to measure the various financial options, it mostly came down to one measure: how much do you want to risk? I would tell them, "The bigger the risk, the greater the reward." Some folks were in a position that they could tolerate a little more risk, others a little less.

Those financial lessons turned into life lessons for me. As I thought about challenges that intimidated me, I mentally stepped back and thought about the rewards. That motivated me to follow through on decisions like getting married, moving jobs, competing in sports, etc.

So, what is your inspiration when it comes to overcoming the fear of failure? What times have you looked past the risk for the reward?
