Monday Gets Accepting

September 20, 2021

Although we all may be part of the same family, it doesn’t mean we are all the same. Nor does it mean we should all strive to be the same. Families are simply collections or groupings of individuals. Yes, even if we share the same last name, we are still individuals coming together to create the whole. This is a beautiful concept, for it’s how the most beautiful mosaics and stained glass windows are created. However, this can be challenging, as it requires us to honor and celebrate one another, even when we don’t see eye to eye. It begs us to appreciate the fact that two people can see the same thing very differently. So let’s celebrate what each member brings to the family. Let’s truly value what it means to be a family. Being accepting matters.

Try This: Create a “Get to Know You Better” interview event. Have each family member write three questions they would like to ask each mem-ber of the family. Then start the interviews. Rotate interviewees until everyone has been inter-viewed. Be kind. This is about acceptance, not a roast.
