Goals for the New Year

January 2, 2010

2010 is ripe with opportunity - if we so choose. In his new book Goals: The 10 Rules for Achieving Success, Gary Ryan Blair has this to say about setting goals:

By choosing your goal and writing it down, you gain an edge. Most people simply respond to conditions rather than create conditions for a better life. While there is no magic pill or equation for success, one things is sure: Those who fail to plan by not writing down their goals, by default, plan to fail. . . . Your written goal must be specific and measurable and include a deadline.

As we kick off the new year, let's take Gary's words to heart. What are your goals for 2010? Are they measurable? When exactly will you accomplish them?

The indispensable first step to getting the things you want out of life is this: Decide what you want. ~Ben Stein

Take a moment right now to write your goals down. Then put those written goals somewhere accessible, somewhere you will be sure to look every day. (Examples: On your refrigerator, on your mirror, on your desk, taped to the side of your computer monitor, on your bedside table, taped to the dashboard of your car. Anywhere that works for you!) Leave a comment and let us know about your goals so we can cheer you on!
