The Solution to the Candle Problem

    August 18, 2010 4260 Views

CandleProblemSolution"We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them."

    -Albert Einstein

I hope that you've had enough time to consider the candle problem. If you haven't already figured it out, watched the video (or Googled the answer), here's a picture that might help you find the solution:

Michael McMillan, in his book Pink Bat, takes a novel approach to solving the various "Candle Problems" by telling a story from his youth. He weaves a story about how his friends altered the game of baseball to fit their limited space and limited resources (they didn't have a real bat or ball, and had to improvise). If you're looking for a motivating book about how problem can turn into solutions, check out Michael's book.

So, as an informal poll, what helped you turn the corner and solve the problem? How can this apply to your life?
